The 'Lightning Review' tab is not displayed in the Excel add-in.

Phenomenon​

Even if you start Excel in an environment where Lightning Review is installed, the "Lightning Review" tab does not appear in Excel.

Cause​

There are several reasons why the Lightning Review add-in does not appear in Office applications, not just Excel.
Please check the following measures one by one and see if they resolve the issue.

If these measures do not resolve the issue, please contact the support team.

Countermeasures​

1. The Lightning Review add-in is disabled​

For some reason, the Lightning Review add-in may be disabled and not loaded when the application is launched.

Change the settings using the following procedure.

The setting procedure is for Excel, but it is similar for other Office applications.
  1. Display the Excel options menu in File > Options.
  2. Select Add-ins and select "COM Add-ins" from the Manage pull-down menu.
  3. Click Settings to display the COM Add-ins settings screen.
  4. Check the check status of "Lightning Review Add-in".
  5. If it is checked, uncheck it and click OK.
  6. Repeat steps 1 to 4, check it this time and click OK.
  7. Operate the add-in and check that the situation does not change.

2. Lightning Review add-in information is not registered correctly​

For some reason, the association information between the Office application you are using and the Lightning Review add-in may be corrupted.
Please re-register the add-in information using the following procedure.

The setting procedure is for Excel, but it is the same for other Office applications.

Method 1 Repair and install Office​

  1. Display Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Select Microsoft Office, right-click and select "Change".
  3. Follow the wizard to carry out "Repair".

Method 2 Edit the Registry​

  1. Right-click on Windows [Start] and click [Run] from the menu that appears.
  2. Enter the following string in the name field.
    regedit
  3. The [User Account Control] dialog box will appear, so click [Yes].
  4. The Registry Editor will appear, so expand the tree on the left and select the following [ExcelAddInVSTO] key.
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ExcelAddInVSTO
  5. Check the contents displayed on the right side of the screen.
  6. If the value of "LoarBehavior" is other than "3", right-click the target item, select "Modify", and update the data to "3".
Caution

Incorrect operation of the registry editor may cause serious damage to the system.
Please operate with great care.

3. Installation information is damaged​

For some reason, the installation information of Office or Lightning Review may be damaged, and the Lightning Review add-in may not be loaded correctly.
Please reconstruct the environment using the following procedure.

  1. Uninstall Lightning Review
    (This procedure also deletes Lightning Review information and cleans the system.)
    [Procedure]

    1. Uninstall the following programs from [Control Panel]-[Programs and Features]

      • Lightning Review

      • Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime

      • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable

    • For the two below, if newer versions than the above are installed, uninstall them.

    1. Start the command prompt and execute the following command
    rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache
    rd C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0/S/Q
    rd C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\assembly\dl3/S/Q
    1. Run the script in the file provided below to check if the Lightning Review registry has been deleted.
      If the uninstallation was successful, the message "Does not exist" will be displayed.

      [Provided file]: CheckRegInfo.vbs
      Unzip the downloaded zip file and run the above file.

  2. Uninstall Office

  3. Reinstall Office

  4. Install Lightning Review

    • Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
      Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable will be installed together.
    • If you are using a version newer than the above, download the installer for each version from the Microsoft page and install them separately before installing Lightning Review.
