When using Microsoft IME, text may not be entered correctly

Symptom

When using Microsoft IME with some versions of Windows 10, Japanese characters may not be entered correctly when editing text.

Conditions for occurrence

When using the following versions of Windows and Microsoft IME, problems such as characters being entered twice while entering Japanese characters have been confirmed.

  • Windows 10 Version 2004 (May 2020 Update) and later versions

This is thought to be a compatibility issue with the new Microsoft IME.

Workaround

Turn on [Use previous Microsoft IME] using the steps listed on the following page.
